Rules
and Regulations
The following may be boring, but all Members should be justifiably proud of our Club. Many hours of hard work has gone into bringing it to its present standard.
1. CLUB/ HOUSE RULES
| 1.1. | GLASS IS DANGEROUS - Please ensure glasses are not taken outside the Clubhouse. Please do not leave plastic glasses, cans, pull-rings etc., on the beach or jetty. | |
| 1.2. | ALL guests must be signed in by a fully paid up member. A fee is payable of Dhs. 15 per guest. A receipt must be obtained. | |
| 1.3. | POOL TABLE - Food, drink and cigarettes are not to be consumed near the pool table. | |
| 1.4. | No dogs are allowed in the Clubhouse, beach or pool areas. |
2. SKIING AND WAKEBOARDING RULES
| 2.1. | No one enjoys regulations but in the light of some years experience of boating, these rules have been developed and have become functional at the Club. If properly followed, they will result in more frequent and enjoyable skiing for all. | |
| 2.2. | Life jackets are to be worn for wakeboarding and skiing at all times, with the exception of tricking. | |
| 2.3. | A helmet must be worn for jumping or on the wakeboard kicker. | |
| 2.4. | One boat on the slalom course at any one time. | |
| 2.5. | Only Club boats are allowed on the dock. | |
| 2.6. | Club boats have priority to use the course and the jump. | |
| 2.7. | 6 passes of the Slalom course, 5 jumps, 13 minutes wakeboarding/tricking or 10 minutes free skiing for one ski ticket. | |
| 2.8. | Members rate for a single ski ticket is Dhs. 35/-. | |
| 2.9. | Non-members rate for a single ski ticket is Dhs. 55/-. | |
| 2.10. | Bulk purchasing of tickets is available. Please look at the notice board for details. | |
| 2.11. | Rule of the 'road' is: approach the jetty from the Al Jadaf side. | |
| 2.12. | Boats coming in have priority over boats taking off from the beach. | |
| 2.13. | Always pull the ski rope in after dropping the skier off. | |
| 2.14. | If a skier does not hold a ticket in their hand before leaving the jetty - all drivers have been instructed that a tow cannot be given. There are no exceptions to this rule. This includes no credit status on your gold or silver card. | |
| 2.15. | The blackboard has a list of skiers. The Boat Driver's decision is final over the order of skiers. | |
| 2.16. | Names cannot be put on the Blackboard again until the ski is completed. | |
| 2.17. | If a skier is not ready on the jetty for their turn, then the next person on the list or anyone else is entitled to take that ski and the skier who was not ready is liable to lose their place. | |
| 2.18. | To be on the list, the person must be present at the Club - no telephoning or signing by proxy is allowed. | |
| 2.19. | Names are not transferable to other name (to avoid disputes). | |
| 2.20. | An observer should be present in the boat and ALWAYS for jumping. | |
| 2.21. | The Boat Driver is responsible for the boat and skiing operation and the safety of all concerned in the water. At his discretion, skiing maybe curtailed at any time and for any reason, in full authority of the DWSA Committee. | |
| 2.22. | The Boat Driver, whether employed by the DWSA or the acting Boat Driver authorized by the DWSA, is responsible for putting the boat in and/ or taking it out. | |
| 2.23. | An up to date list of Skiing Rules is posted on the Blackboard. From time to time, these rules may be amended. Please ensure you read them to ensure you are aware of your obligations. |
3. SKI EQUIPMENT AND TOWS
| 3.1. | All Club ski equipment is to be kept in the Ski Container, which is kept locked. The key is available behind the Bar. | |
| 3.2. | All Club skis and jackets are clearly marked with DWSA or Club stickers. | |
| 3.3. | Broken jackets and ski bindings are dangerous!!! IF you break or damage any Club equipment, please advise the Boat Driver or a Committee member or repair it yourself. | |
| 3.4. | After use, please rinse equipment in fresh water and return it to the store. | |
| 3.5. | Club Equipment is not available to be borrowed or hired for use on any boat other than those belonging to the club. | |
| 3.6. | Club equipment is not to be taken from the premises. |
4. PRIVATE BOATS
| 4.1. | All private boats are to be insured and a copy of the Policy should be given to the Club Manager. The boat owner must be a member of the Club. | |
| 4.2. | Drivers of Private boats must be nominated by the boat owner and must be an experienced boat driver. | |
| 4.3. | The Club boats have exclusive use of the Slalom course, the Jump, the Kicker and the Slider. | |
| 4.4. | Drivers should take off towards Al Jadaf Dock and return towards Al Jadaf Dock in an anti-clockwise direction, see 2.10 (Common sense prevails.) | |
| 4.5. | When a Club boat is operating in front of the clubhouse or on the slalom course then care must be taken to drive slowly away to Jadaf so as not to create a large wake. Take the same care when returning. | |
| 4.6. | Private boats are not allowed on the island or within 200m of the Boom due to the Bird Sanctuary. | |
| 4.7. | Ski ropes should be pulled in and stowed before returning to the beach. | |
| 4.8. | On returning to the Club, SLOW DOWN - there may be swimmers or skiers in the water, also flying ropes are DANGEROUS. | |
| 4.9. | Do not teach beginners in front of the jetty or Clubhouse beach as this is dangerous in such busy water. | |
| 4.10. | Club vehicle may be used for launching of private boats with the permission of the Club Manager. | |
| 4.11. | Use of the workshop and equipment is not permitted. | |
| 4.12. | When approaching head on - veer to the right. | |
| 4.13. | Boat operators must make themselves fully conversant with safe practices and procedures before use - inexperienced drivers are a danger to themselves, skiers and other navigation. | |
| 4.14. | Club equipment is not to be taken and used by private boats. This includes skis, ropes, tools, buoys etc. | |
| 4.15. | Club Members are requested not to tie their boats to the main dock. Private boats may be moored on the beach between the dock and the launch ramp. | |
| 4.16. | The DWSA petrol pump may be used by private boats. Please contact the Club Manager who holds the key. Fuel will be charged at Dhs 5 per gallon. |
